Another Eden Begins Encounter, Character, and Kinship Quests
Three official quest types for the 18 allies who travel with Aldo — optional depth, not a gacha bond stat.
Nintendo’s Another Eden Begins listing is the cleanest public source for side stories. Allies’ stories are told through three named quest types. Encounter quests depict a first meeting with Aldo. Character quests reveal a past and a purpose. Kinship quests explore the relationship with Aldo and become available by forging a deep connection. Studio Prisma’s English site uses the same trio: unique encounter quests, character quests, and kinship quests. This page explains how to use those labels without inventing affinity percentages the publisher has not printed.
The campaign is still a main-story JRPG. You can finish Another Eden Begins without 100 percenting every personal tale. You should not skip them on purpose if you care about New Game+. Official text says extra endings unfold from actions and choices. Bond quests are the kind of flag an ending table usually cares about, even when the flowchart is unpublished.
Encounter quests — first meetings
An encounter quest is how a companion stops being a portrait and becomes a party member with a scene. Official DLC copy (Japanese press plus the DLC packs page) is explicit for paid allies: buying a Character Pack does not drop Thillelille or Tiramisu into the title-screen party. You need the main game, a stated story point, and that character’s encounter quest. Treat boxed companions the same way. The story will hand you some meetings. Others wait behind a gate.
The demo walkthrough stays inside the expected Baruoki-to-Elzion opening. Amy and Riica are the names most players should expect during chapters 1–6, based on the well-known Part 1 start. This wiki will not post a fake join chapter for Gariyu or Shion. When an encounter quest appears in your log, play it before you wander into a new era. A missed meeting is harder to reconstruct than a missed chest.
Encounter quests are also how optional DLC characters enter the 19-plus-10 roster math. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 go on sale with the 17 September 2026 launch. Their meetings sit after a story gate the six-chapter trial will not open. Do not stall the demo waiting for Tiramisu.
Character quests — past and purpose
Nintendo: character quests reveal an ally’s past and purpose. That is a personal story, not a damage node. Official blurbs on the companion roster are one-liners. Character quests are where those one-liners get a scene. A hunter whose prey is the source of her suffering, an android whose mission is to be helpful, a frog samurai, a paladin heir — those sentences are hooks. The quest is the chapter.
Practical advice that does not require datamining:
- Open the quest log after every main-story chapter. Personal quests often appear when a person is already in the party, not before.
- Do not grind symbol encounters as a substitute. Character quests are stories. Combat is the fight that sits between cutscenes.
- If a quest sends you to another era, go. The world guide exists because antiquity, the present, and Elzion are not the same map.
- Leave a spare save before an obvious personal climax once you are in New Game+. Extra endings care about choices; a single file is a single choice.
Kinship quests — the deep connection
Studio Prisma: kinship quests become available by forging deep connections. Nintendo: they explore the relationship with Aldo. That is the third layer. It is not a mobile-game “talk to them three times for +1 affinity” loop unless the in-game tutorial says so. Until Wright Flyer publishes a kinship gauge, treat the in-game help screen as the source and this page as the warning not to import Another Eden mobile’s old room-and-gift systems.
What we can say:
- Kinship is gated. Official language is “deep connection,” not “automatic after encounter.”
- Kinship is optional for a first clear. It is much less optional if you intend to chase more than ten endings.
- Kinship is not a battle command. You still need an attacker, a supporter, and a healer in the command window. A maxed bond does not replace party building.
- Ramiu’s kinship, if it exists as a named quest, belongs to New Game+. She is the sand spirit who guides the second journey. Do not hunt her kinship inside the demo.
How this sits next to crafting and cats
Nintendo also names a cat catalog and era-based crafting. Those are collection and gear loops, not quest types. They live on crafting. A kinship quest may send you to a cat. A cat does not replace a kinship quest. Keep the labels separate so a search for “Another Eden Begins kinship” does not dump you into a Meow Coin table from the original game.
Demo versus full game
The trial that opened 2 September 2026 covers main story chapters 1–6. Story progress and character stats can transfer. Official trial notes do not promise a complete kinship set. Play the main six chapters as a campaign. If a personal quest appears and fits the evening, play it. If it threatens a messy save in the middle of a cutscene, stop at a chapter boundary and read save transfer.
After 17 September 2026 (16 September on some Nintendo US listings), this page can grow named quest titles as players actually finish them. Until then, the useful work is knowing the three official buckets and not confusing them with gacha bond events.
Sibling pages: the characters hub, companion roster, world and eras, New Game+, and Getting Started. When a quest log entry appears, read it. The command window can wait one scene.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are the three quest types?
Encounter quests (first meeting), character quests (past and purpose), and kinship quests (deep connection with Aldo). Nintendo and Studio Prisma both use that trio.
Do I need kinship quests to finish the story?
No. They are optional depth for a first clear. They matter more if you care about New Game+ endings that unfold from actions and choices.
Does buying DLC skip the encounter quest?
No. Official DLC notes say you still need a story point and that character's encounter quest. See DLC packs.
Is kinship a number I can farm?
The publisher has not posted a public gauge. Use the in-game tutorial. Do not import gift-room loops from the original mobile game.
Are quests in the demo?
The demo is chapters 1–6 of the main story. Personal quests may appear; a complete kinship set is a full-game job. See the demo walkthrough.
Where is the cat catalog?
That is a separate Nintendo-listed feature, documented on crafting, not as a fourth quest type.
