Another Eden Begins Steam Deck, Proton, and the Demo
Official transfer steps exist; a Verified badge does not — test the six-chapter trial before you treat Deck as a Switch.
Steam still lists Another Eden Begins Deck compatibility as unknown. That sentence is the whole reason this page exists as its own URL instead of a footnote on system requirements. Studio Prisma nevertheless published a full Steam Deck save-transfer procedure on the official trial page, including Proton compatdata IDs. The studio expects the demo to boot on Deck well enough that you might want to keep the file. Valve has not stamped Verified, Playable, or Unsupported on the store badge as of this writing. Treat the six-chapter demo as the benchmark, not a Reddit screenshot.
The full game launches 17 September 2026 (Nintendo US eShop listings use 16 September; Japan official copy uses 17 September). App ID 4163960 is the paid Steam campaign. App ID 4391790 is the demo. Those numbers appear in Desktop Mode folder paths. If you cannot find 4391790, the trial is not installed on that Deck.
What the spec sheet does and does not promise
Steam’s Windows requirements are on the PC specs page: Windows 11, 8 GB RAM, DirectX 11, 10 GB storage. Minimum aims at 720p Low 30 FPS on a GTX 750 / RX 460 class GPU. Recommended aims at 4K High 60 FPS on a GTX 1060 / RX 470 class GPU. A Steam Deck is neither of those cards. It is a handheld APU running Proton. Official copy does not publish a Deck preset, a TDP recommendation, or a 40 FPS FSR profile.
Nintendo’s Switch 2 Edition page is the place that actually prints 4K support and up to 60 FPS. That claim is for Switch 2 hardware, not for Deck. Do not read a Switch 2 marketing bullet as a Proton target. If you want Nintendo’s docked fidelity, that SKU and the $5 Upgrade Pack live on editions.
What you can do today:
- Install the free demo from Steam.
- Play chapters 1–6 in Gaming Mode with a community layout or the default gamepad map. Steam lists full controller support and recommends a controller. Controls refuses to invent a keyboard table; Deck users should not need one.
- Watch thermals in long Elzion cutscenes. If the fan is the loudest character in the scene, drop internal resolution before you buy cosmetic DLC fantasies.
- If the trial holds 30 FPS in Baruoki and Elzion at a readable text size, you have a real data point. If it does not, Switch and Switch 2 exist.
Desktop Mode transfer (summary)
The long official list is on save transfer. Deck-specific facts worth repeating here so a search for “Another Eden Begins Steam Deck” does not miss them:
- Turn off Steam Cloud before you copy folders. Cloud can fight a manual paste.
- Switch to Desktop Mode. The file manager is Dolphin by default. Show hidden files.
- Full game:
compatdata/4163960/.../WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS/AnotherEdenBegins/ - Demo:
compatdata/4391790/.../WRIGHT FLYER STUDIOS/AnotherEdenBeginsDemo/ - If you already opened the full game once, trash its
SaveDatafirst. - Copy
SaveDataDemointo the full-game folder and rename itSaveData. - Return to Gaming Mode, boot the full game, then turn Cloud back on after success.
Do not interrupt the copy. Do not rename the parent AnotherEdenBeginsDemo folder and hope Steam notices. Do not mix a Windows AppData\LocalLow paste into Deck compatdata unless you know you are crossing machines on purpose.

| Published fidelity | None (badge unknown) | Switch baseline | 4K support, up to 60 FPS |

| Save cloud | Steam Cloud (off during copy) | Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud | Same NSO cloud |
Family-group lending is a Nintendo listing, not a Steam feature. Steam families are a different program. Do not assume a Switch share code works on Deck.
What not to import
- Mobile-game PC port settings from Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space. That client listed Windows 10 and Intel HD Graphics. Begins lists Windows 11 and discrete-class GPUs. See Begins versus the original.
- Switch 2 4K60 as a Deck expectation.
- A fake “best TDP” table invented from another JRPG.
Play the trial. Keep the save if the command window feels good in your hands. Read Getting Started for the rest of the first hour, combat for Another Force, and quests once personal stories appear. This page should stay boring. Boring handhelds finish chapters 1–6 without melting a thumbstick.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Another Eden Begins Verified on Steam Deck?
Steam still lists compatibility as unknown. Official demo-transfer steps for Deck exist anyway. Use the trial as the test.
What is app 4391790?
The Steam demo. The full game is 4163960. Both IDs appear in Desktop Mode compatdata folders.
Does Deck get the Switch 2 4K60 mode?
No. 4K support and up to 60 FPS are Nintendo Switch 2 Edition bullets. Deck is a Steam Proton handheld.
Where are the full copy-paste steps?
On the save-transfer page, taken from Studio Prisma's official trial notes.
Should I buy Deck or Switch 2?
If you want Nintendo's published 4K/60 claim and an in-game transfer prompt, Switch 2. If you already live in Steam and the demo runs, Deck can keep the file. See editions.
Does Steam Cloud break the transfer?
It can. Official steps tell you to disable Cloud before the folder copy and re-enable it after the full game accepts the save.
