Another Eden Begins Begins versus The Cat Beyond Time and Space
Same writer, same opening wound, different product — a boxed campaign instead of a live gacha.
Another Eden Begins shares DNA with Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space and is still a different SKU. The original is a free-to-play mobile and PC RPG that has grown for years. Begins is a premium one-time purchase for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, launching 17 September 2026, with a six-chapter demo that opened 2 September 2026. Masato Kato still writes and directs through Studio Prisma. Yasunori Mitsuda still wrote the main theme. Aldo still chases Feinne through the Moonlight Forest and wakes 800 years later. After that sentence, the products diverge. This page is the difference list so you do not install the wrong one — or expect Chronos Stones inside a boxed campaign.
Start with Getting Started if you only care about Begins. Stay here if you already have hundreds of hours in the original and want to know what transfers in spirit, what transfers as a serial code, and what does not transfer at all.

Begins is a single-player adventure. The original is also played solo, but its economy, banners, and stamina-adjacent systems are live-service. Official Begins combat still uses command battles, chain skills, and Another Force — the same verbs — inside a closed box. Read combat for the Begins version of those verbs. Do not import a 2026 mobile “meta team” and expect the names to exist.
Story overlap without a spoiler dump
The published Begins prologue is the Part 1 wound: Baruoki, Feinne, the Beast King, the spacetime tear, Elzion in 1100 AD, antiquity in 20,000 BC, prisma in 300 AD. If you have already finished Part 1 on a phone, you will recognize the geography. Begins still sells full voice acting and a New Game+ that the original’s live service never framed as “more than ten endings after one clear.” Play the demo walkthrough as a campaign, not as a skip. The Part 1 skip serial code exists for the original client so new mobile players can jump to post-Begins story — it is not a skip inside Begins. Details sit on the serial codes hub.
Roster overlap
Many Begins names are original-game veterans: Aldo, Feinne, Amy, Riica, Cyrus, Helena, Anabel, Gariyu, Shanie, Shion, Suzette, Cetie, Bertrand, Mariel, Myrus, Melina, Yuna, Renri. Ramiu is presented as the new-adventure guide. The original still has hundreds of other people. They are not in this box. The companion roster is the complete Begins list. The tier list only ranks that list.
Styles, Another Styles, Extra Styles, Grasta, and Stellar Awakening are original-game systems. This wiki does not treat them as Begins mechanics. If a launch patch adds a similarly named system, updates will say so with a date.
Serial codes are a bridge, not a merge
Buying Begins can gift original-game rewards: a Part 1 skip, an Encounter Ramiu ticket, Begins outfits for Aldo and Feinne, and 5-star guaranteed tickets. Those strings never go into the Begins pause menu. Steam and Nintendo claim paths differ. Japanese Switch download codes do not work on the PC original. Read the hub before you type anything.
Who should play which
- Play Begins if you want a voiced, premium, time-travel JRPG with a finish line and New Game+. The release-date page lists editions and the western physical plan for 2027.
- Play the original if you want a live service that is still growing. Begins is not a replacement server.
- Play both if you want the campaign and the gallery. Use the codes. Do not expect save files to cross the other way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Begins a port of the mobile game?
It is a reworked premium campaign with the same opening wound and a closed 19-person roster, not a live-service port of the whole original.
Can I move my mobile save into Begins?
No. Only the Begins demo save can transfer into the full Begins game. See save transfer.
Do I need the original to understand Begins?
No. Begins is sold as a self-contained adventure. The original is optional extra context and the place serial codes go.
Will Begins keep adding characters after launch?
The published pitch is 19 playable characters and New Game+ endings. It is not marketed as a gacha that grows weekly.
Where do I claim the early-bird gifts?
In the original Cat Beyond Time and Space client. Follow the serial codes hub.
