Getting Started with Another Eden Begins
Install the demo, learn the command window, and plan the 17 September launch.
Another Eden Begins is a premium single-player time-travel JRPG. You buy it once, you play it offline as a campaign, and you do not pull a gacha roster inside this product. Wright Flyer Studios publishes it; Studio Prisma (Masato Kato) handles scenario and direction; Yasunori Mitsuda wrote the main theme. The full game launches 17 September 2026 worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Some Steam pages list 16 September depending on timezone. That is the same launch, not a separate SKU.
If you want to play before that date, you can download the free demo. It opened 2 September 2026 and covers main story chapters 1–6. Story progress and character stats from that trial can transfer into the full game. Read demo news for the official scope, then keep this page as the checklist that sits in front of every other guide.
Pick a platform before you wander
Three digital versions exist:
- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition — the Japan price band is about 5480 yen / about $44.99.
- Nintendo Switch and Steam standard — about 4980 yen / about $39.99, with regional tags such as TWD 990 and HKD 249.
- Upgrade Pass — moves a Switch copy up to the Switch 2 Edition.
Japan also gets a physical edition on 17 September 2026. Western physical copies are planned for 2027 through Aksys Games. Ratings are CERO B, PEGI 12, and ESRB T. The campaign is a single-player adventure with full controller support and Steam Achievements on PC.
If you are on a PC, confirm system requirements before you treat the demo as a benchmark. Minimum is Windows 11, 8 GB RAM, and a 720p Low 30 FPS target. Recommended is still 8 GB RAM but aims at 4K High 60 FPS. A machine that ran the original mobile port on Windows 10 is not proof it will run Begins.
First hour on the demo
Install the trial from the Nintendo eShop or Steam, then play it as a campaign, not as a museum. The expected opening — Baruoki, Feinne, the Beast King, Moonlight Forest, the throw into 1100 AD Elzion, then Amy and Riica — is the same spine long-time fans know from Part 1 of the original. The demo walkthrough labels those beats without inventing puzzle solutions.
While you play:
- Finish the in-game battle tutorial. Command battles, chain skills, and the Another Force gauge are the whole combat identity; the combat guide exists so you can reread them later.
- Leave a clean save at the end of a chapter, not in the middle of a cutscene.
- Do not treat serial codes as something you type into Begins. Codes from buying the full game are redeemed in Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space. Details sit on the serial codes hub.
Habits that still matter on 17 September
The full game is the same command-battle JRPG with nineteen playable characters, three time periods, and New Game+ after the credits. You do not need a day-one “meta team.” You need a party that can attack, support, and heal. Party building and the pre-release tier list are role talk, not gacha rarity talk.
Before launch day:
- Decide whether your demo save is worth keeping. If yes, read save transfer now, not after you have already booted the full game and written a blank file.
- Wishlist the storefront that matches your hardware. Switch, Switch 2, and Steam are separate products; the Upgrade Pass only covers the Switch-to-Switch 2 jump.
- Skim Begins versus the original if you already play the mobile game, so you do not expect a 200-character gacha box in this campaign.
- Bookmark official links for Studio Prisma and Wright Flyer Studios. Patch notes and serial-code claim steps will land there first.
- Optional DLC packs and crafting / cat catalog are full-game extras. Do not stall the demo for them.
Languages in the game client are English (full audio), Japanese (full audio), Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. This wiki covers English, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.
Sibling guides on this hub: the demo walkthrough, combat, New Game+, controls, crafting, and Begins versus the original. Once the title screen loads, resist the urge to skip every tutorial prompt. Those early command-battle lessons are the same skills you will still be using in New Game+.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Another Eden Begins free to play?
No. It is a premium one-time purchase. The six-chapter demo is free and opened 2 September 2026. The full game launches 17 September 2026.
Can I play on a Nintendo Switch 1?
Yes. There is a standard Nintendo Switch version in addition to the Switch 2 Edition. An Upgrade Pass exists if you later move to Switch 2.
Should I start the original mobile game first?
You do not have to. Begins is a self-contained campaign. The original is relevant if you want serial code gifts, or if you want the comparison on Begins versus the original.
Does the demo progress carry over?
Story progress and character stats can transfer. Switch uses an in-game prompt; Steam and Steam Deck need a manual folder copy. See save transfer.
Where do I learn battles?
Play the in-game tutorial, then read the combat guide. Controls covers field movement and menus without inventing a button map.
Is this a single-player game?
Yes. Another Eden Begins is a single-player adventure. Build a party of companions inside that campaign; you are not grouping with other players.
