Crafting and Cat Catalog

Nintendo’s official Switch listing for Another Eden Begins names two systems the mobile live-service wiki will try to steal from you: a cat catalog for feline friends you encounter, and a crafting feature that creates weapons, armor, and food from different eras. Those lines are the entire public spec. This page explains how to use that information without pasting a 200-row Cat Shop table from The Cat Beyond Time and Space.

Begins is a premium single-player campaign. The nineteen boxed characters and the DLC packs are people. Cats are a side log. Crafting is support gear and meals, not a gacha pity track. If a website tells you to farm Meow Coins or Varuo expeditions, that advice is for the original game. Send it back with Begins versus the original.

Cat catalog

The catalog is a log. You meet cats in the field, you record them, you keep moving. Original-game players already know a Paw Stamp Album and a Cat Madame shop. Begins has not published that shop list. Until it does, the useful habits are:

  • Talk to cats you see. The Nintendo blurb only works if you actually encounter them.
  • Do not reset a demo save to hunt a complete catalog. Chapters 1–6 are a story trial; catalog completion is a full-game hobby.
  • Treat catalog bonuses as unverified until the in-game help screen shows one. This wiki will not invent ATK percentages for a cat named Peasuke.

Mariel is the boxed priest whose official blurb is “cat loving.” That is flavor, not a catalog requirement. You can finish combat without petting anyone.

Crafting across eras

Official text: create weapons, armor, and food from different eras. The campaign already travels 300 AD Miglance, 1100 AD Elzion, and 20,000 BC antiquity. A crafting bench that cares about era is consistent with that map. What is not published:

  • Station locations.
  • Material nodes.
  • A list of craftable swords that outclass Aldo’s story blade on day one.

Play it as a support loop. If a recipe wants a future-era part, you need to have opened Elzion. If it wants antiquity ore, you need that time period. The demo walkthrough covers the expected Baruoki-to-Elzion opening; do not expect a full three-era craft tree inside chapters 1–6.

Food is the quiet half of the feature. Command battles in Begins still run on HP, MP, and the Another Force gauge. A meal that restores or buffs is worth cooking before a story fight. It will not replace a healer in the four-slot line. Keep party building honest.

What not to import from mobile

  • Cat equipment slots, Meow Coins, and character-themed collars.
  • Astra Island gathering tools (sickle, axe, pickaxe) from a later original-game side story.
  • Weapon tempering, Another Dungeon keys, or Grasta.

Those systems belong to a live-service original that is still growing. Begins sells a finish line, New Game+, and optional DLC allies. Crafting sits beside that, not underneath a farm spreadsheet.

When Studio Prisma publishes a recipe list, this page will gain tables. Until then, use the in-game crafting screen as the source, and keep Getting Started as the install path. Sibling guides: controls, combat, and vs original.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is the cat catalog in the demo?

Nintendo names it as a Begins feature. The six-chapter trial has not been documented as including a complete catalog. Play the demo and look; do not reset for completion.

Can I craft DLC weapons?

No such list is published. DLC packs add characters and quests. See DLC packs.

Does crafting replace party roles?

No. You still need attackers, supporters, and healers. Read combat.

Should I follow a mobile cat-shop guide?

No. That economy is the original game. Compare products on Begins versus the original.

Where do I start if I have not installed yet?
